Waddell & Reed is committed to its business continuity program, which is designed
to minimize the effects of any significant business interruption and associated
impacts and enable critical operations to resume quickly in the event such an interruption
occurs. Since the timing and extent of significant business disruptions are by nature
unpredictable, we have developed a flexible plan that will enable us to respond
to actual events appropriately.
Contacting Us
Should a business disruption affect our Overland Park headquarters, your primary
contact is your financial professional. If your financial professional or his or
her division office experiences a business disruption, please contact us at 1-888-923-3355
(WADDELL). If you are unable to call, go to the Waddell & Reed Web site at waddell.com
for instructions on obtaining account information.
Our Plan
Our first objective, should a business disruption occur, is safeguarding our employees
and property so that we can quickly recover and resume business. Other objectives
include assessing operations, protecting records and meeting our investors’ service
and investment needs. Specifically, our plan addresses:
- Data backup and recovery
- Mission-critical systems
- Financial and operational assessments
- Alternative communications
- Alternate physical location of critical employees, suppliers, contactor, banks and
counter-party impact
- Regulatory reporting
- Providing clients access to their funds and securities if we are unable to resume
business.
Waddell & Reed’s transfer agent backs up required records in a separate facility.
While any business disruption would create unique challenges, based on such factors
as the time of day and severity of the disruption, our objective is to restore operations,
complete existing transactions and accept new transactions and payments as soon
as possible. Your orders and requests for funds could be delayed during this period.
Varying Disruptions
Disruptions can vary in scope and severity. In the event that a disruption occurs
at our firm, or affects the business district, city or even the region in which
we are located, we have will temporarily transfer our mission-critical operations
to an off-site location outside of the affected area. Should such a move become
necessary, we will provide information on the Waddell & Reed Web site (waddell.com).
You can also reach us at 1-888-923-3355 (WADDELL) for additional information on
how to contact us. If a disruption is severe enough to prevent us from remaining
in business, we will take all necessary steps to assure you prompt access to your
account(s).
