Waddell & Reed

Community Reach

At Waddell & Reed, we truly value our relationship with charitable organizations throughout the Kansas City community, as evidenced by the examples below:

Operation Breakthrough

Operation Breakthrough is the largest single-site early education child care and social services facility in Missouri, serving over 450 children daily from the urban core. Operation Breakthrough also strives to support and empower the children’s families through advocacy, referral services and emergency aid. Waddell & Reed employees and their families regularly volunteer their time and talents, from painting offices and therapy rooms to organizing holiday celebrations for the children. Also, in honor of Hank Herrmann’s 40th anniversary with Waddell & Reed in 2011, the company raised more than $100,000 toward the renovation, operation and stocking of Operation Breakthrough’s food pantry.

Community LINC

Community LINC is a not-for-profit organization that provides transitional housing to eligible homeless families in Kansas City, helping them become stronger and self-sufficient. Programs include budgeting, healthy lifestyles, counseling, and life skills training. Since 2009, Waddell & Reed and its employees collectively have offered their support to Community LINC in various capacities, including serving on various committees, volunteering individually, serving on the board, and giving financially.

Waddell & Reed also supports many other local organizations and initiatives, among them:

  • Harvesters Community Food Network
  • The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial
  • United Way of Greater Kansas City
  • Community Blood Center and American Red Cross
  • Holiday Red Bag
