Waddell & Reed

The Financial Advisor Career

You probably know a few things about the financial advisor experience: the potential for an attractive income, a schedule that you control, incentive trips. As you envision yourself in this role, also think about your daily responsibilities, the bond you’ll build with clients and the tools and products that will help you succeed.

Your Clients
The desire to help people and impact their lives is a powerful motivator. As a financial advisor, your bond with clients is significant. That’s because you’re helping them accumulate for retirement, send their kids to college and manage and maintain their financial resources. In short, you’re helping them achieve their dreams.

Your Responsibilities
Month to month you will target prospective clients, identify their needs, recommend solutions, help them take action and provide personal client service. Day to day this translates to prospecting and meeting with clients, tracking and marketing your business, attending to administrative needs and networking. In the beginning, you’ll also spend considerable time learning the business through classes, joint sales activities, online training and coaching sessions with your manager.

Your Success
Success looks different to everyone – life balance, job satisfaction, income, helping others. At the heart of our advisors’ success is Waddell & Reed’s comprehensive financial planning process, solid investment products and a seven-decade history of strong investment performance. As you pursue your success, we’ll be your constant guide as you weave together the core of who you are with the core of who we are.
