Choice Financial Advisor
Most of our advisors find that the Classic model enables them to meet their clients' needs fully. If, however, you want to access a larger span of products and a more automated format for managing your business, you might in time wish to explore our Choice Financial Advisor model. To do so, you will be required to meet a number of criteria, including minimum assets under management and/or minimum production levels.
Either way – whether you choose Classic or Choice – we are committed to providing you all of the resources necessary to help your clients meet their objectives and to succeed as a financial advisor.
This program is offered to assist field leaders in developing leadership competencies including effectively utilizing resources, integrating into a system, selling benefits to others, and impacting and adapting to local situations. Programs are delivered at regional and national conferences and through scholarship-supported programs. Leadership University also builds skills needed for promotion into a leadership role and lays a clear career track for those interested in management. As part of this program, we also encourage managers to participate in GAMA International, an association dedicated to supporting field leaders in the financial services and insurance industries.
The district manager's primary focus is to recruit, select, develop and motivate a team of financial advisors. District offices may be housed within the division or at an independent location.
The associate manager program is designed to be an intensive training ground for the managing principal position. It includes extensive mentoring with a top managing principal to learn Waddell & Reed's systems and practices. The associate manager will assist a division and demonstrate its ability to perform duties that ensure growth in sales, number of advisors, new client acquisition, assets under management and advisor productivity. Success as an associate manager can lead to a division office within six to 12 months.
The managing principal's primary responsibility is to lead the division office in the key strategic areas of business planning, sales growth and growth of the advisor force. A managing principal's focus is to motivate and guide his/her management team, financial advisors and administrative staff; remove roadblocks to success; and oversee the day-to-day operation of the division office. He/she supports and executes corporate initiatives, implements appropriate compliance practices and represents Waddell & Reed in the community and industry.
Regional Vice President
The regional vice president represents the pinnacle of field leadership at Waddell & Reed. He/she shapes and leads a team of managing principals within the region and assists them in the successful leadership of the divisions. A regional vice president also acts as an advisory council to the national sales manager and impacts company policy and direction.
